
Mega farmers' stir in U.P results in tense situation after agitating kisans clashed with the police

The agitating farmers have been protesting against the three contentious farm laws which were passed by the Centre in 2020. The protests have been intensifying since then. After massive chaos was witnessed in Haryana and outside Manohar Lal Khattar's house, clashes broke out between farmers and police personnel in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh. According to Sanyukt Kisan Morcha, three farmers died in the clash and one was shot dead by the son of a Union Minister. BKU leader Rakesh Tikait left for Lakhimpur Kheri, and the police are yet to confirm the total number of casualties. After the incident, leaders of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha addressed a press conference.
