3800 1-Ton 9 Foot Bed Fabrication | Segment 7 – 1959 NAPCO Chevy Apache 1-Ton

This video follows walks through the process to fabricate a 9’ bed for a 3800 1-Ton. These trucks had a 135” wheelbase which means that the step-side bed was 9’ long. (This is different from the short step-side and the long step-side which was 8’ long). No one makes a 9’ bed, and finding one in good enough shape to restore is impossible. Therefore, I worked with Mar-K out of Oklahoma to fabricate an 8’ bed with some custom layup on their part. Then I extended the bed sides and the bed strips to make the bed the factory spec 9’ bed. This was a two-day effort but came out quite nice.
