Lauren Boebert Declares Victory In Spite Of Not Actually Winning Yet
Published at : November 21, 2022
Lauren Boebert has officially declared victory in her House race, even though the race has not been officially called. As the ballot curing process ended, Boebert did have a lead of 551 votes, but that falls into the automatic recall area, so a winner will not be declared for some time. But Boebert's strategy could help energize the crazies if the recount doesn't go her way, as Farron Cousins explains.

Well, folks, Lauren Bobber has called it, she has officially won her reelection according to Lauren Bobber Thursday evening after the ballots had finished being cured. Bobert tweets this out. We won. I am so thankful for all of your support, and I am so proud to be your representative. Come January, you could be certain of two things. I will be sworn in for my second term as your congresswoman and Republicans can finally turn Pelosi's house back into the people's house. There's just one problem with her announcement that she won, and that of course is that she didn't win, at least not yet after the ballots were cured. Which by the way, if you're not familiar with that, uh, Colorado is one of, I think 34 states in the country that has laws that say if there is any kind of problem with a ballot that is mailed in or an absentee ballot, whatever, um, you notify the people they have a week to fix it, and that is the curing process.
They only have one week to fix it. That week deadline obviously ended this week. So those have now been counted, and Lauren Bber does in fact have a 551 vote lead over Democratic opponent, Adam Fresh. However, because there's only a 0.2% difference in the vote between the two candidates, that triggers an automatic recount and no winner can officially be declared. No winner can be certified until after that recount happened. So, Bo's claim that we won is premature because no, no winner has been certified and we've already seen one race this year get overturned in a recount a Republican had won, but by a tiny margin, they did the recount suddenly the Democrat won. So this race is still up in the air. 551 votes is not a big margin at all. So what would that look like in a recount, right? How does Adam Fresh overtake Lauren Bobber?
It's complicated and it's a long shot. I'll be honest with you. I I don't think it will happen. I hope it does, but I'm not gonna put, you know, all my faith that that Fri is gonna win in a recount. But here's what happens. Basically, they go back through, they look at the ballots, they recount all of them. Obviously this is why it's called a recount, but what they're checking to see is that every ballot was accurately counted and that ballots that should not have been counted did not get counted. So basically, instead of a recount, it's more of a verification,
Right? We wanna make sure that maybe a ballot that went through the scanner, it didn't register well, we'll fix that. We'll register that vote now. And yeah, there are lots of votes that this, these kinds of things do happen to ballots that get overlooked. One page, one ballot when you pick up a stack may have been stuck to the other one and they didn't see it. Those things happen for those of us who lived through the 2000 presidential recount. Uh, we know that literally anything is possible with these ballots and the people that are supposed to be counting them. So, again, you can't rule anything out. I, I don't know that I'd get our hopes up on it, but there is a chance, and I'd say it's a decent chance that Adam Fresh could pull this off. But I think there's an even bigger lesson here.
I guarantee you there's 551 people sitting in that district right now that do not like Lauren Bber, that did not vote, that are kicking themselves thinking, ah, crap, if only, if only I had actually gone down and voted Every vote matters. That's the lesson here. That is the message we have to move forward with. And I hope we use Lauren Bobbers race in the future as a get out the vote kind of thing. Cuz again, I can promise you there's 551 people in that district that would've voted against her but didn't vote at all, probably more than 551. Take that lesson to heart. Make sure your friends take it to heart. And let's not forget how close we came and we still could, you know, push it over the edge, but how close we came to getting this creep out of office. It also, for the record, is not a good sign for Boer, who will as a house member be up for reelection in two years. She barely won this one. If she spends the next two years harping on Hunter Biden and investigations instead of doing stuff for the people.
